Technology » The “Fisherman” WEC

  • A floating buoy in the sea, 30 – 200 m from land, absorbs wave energy when the incoming ocean waves lift the float.

  • The absorbed energy is transported mechanically to land by a wire, running through a pulley attached to the seabed.

  • The wire moves a winch on land, and the rotating winch movement is further converted by mechanical and hydraulic means. For further description of how energy conversion is performed, see under core technology or refer to publications section.
    .
  • The “Fisherman” WEC is the version of the technology to be commercialized first, and to be used with Purenco Freshwater.
