About Straumekraft
Ingvald Straume concives the idea of a new concept for a wave power plant. The idea is concieved while playing with his young son. The first miniature model of the new power plant is made using plastic toy parts.
/04: Engineers Ole Gabriel Kverneland , Øystein Holm and Erik Sauar joins the team. The concept is further developed from a single wave power consept, to a concept combining several wave power plants to bigger wave farms. A coprehensive business plan is made, and the initial contact to "Innovasjon Norge" and the industry is made.
"Stiftelsen Miljøansvar” gave a grant of NOK 30 000,- for the building of a Prototype.
E-CO Renewable Energy Price grants the project a grant of NOK 100 000,- for further development of the consept. Prototype I is built and comissioned in Hjeltefjorden.
Straumekraft AS was founded in January 2009. The company takes over the ovnership of Prototype 1. Single phase Power AS carries out the first mathematical simulations of the wave power concept. The building of prototype II wass commisioned. Straumekraft AS reached the regional finals of the 2007 "DnB NOR Innovation price". First patent application of the main techology for the Straumekraft concept.
Patent for the main techology granted for Norway. CMR Prototech is commissioned to make a verification of the Straumekraft model using an extensive matemathical simulation.
Idevekst AS carries out a strategic assesment on behalf of Straumekraft AS. A tender for a detailed design of each component of the powerplant is sent to various companies in order to build a demonstation site for the wave power unit named "the fisherman", and to make a conceptdesign of the offshore wave farm named "Adwaita".
